This year I enrolled at Camp for the very first time. Campus A Low Hum, fondly known as Camp or CALH, is a dream music festival held at Flock House in Bulls annually. 1,500 people from all over New Zealand, and the world, descend on Bulls for four nights, three days, of creativity – including … Continue reading “”

David Dallas – Til Tomorrow (Ratatat – Loud Pipes remix) Great video – and not just because I love Ratatat, but because the clip was done by Special Problems. Those guys seem to sweep everything with the awesome brush.

Audio Tiger Choir are probably my favourite music discovery from Campus a Low Hum last month. I’m working on a post about Camp, but it’s taking aaaages. Listen to this song, then buy their stuff on Bandcamp. shorepatrol: Tiger Choir — “Dancer” Featuring a mismatch of washed out rhythms, Hobart, Australia’s Tiger Choir bring you back down, … Continue reading “”

Sufjan Stevens playing “Concerning the UFO Sighting Near Highland, Illinois” from his Illinois album, as part of his encore at last night’s (very epic) show at the Bruce Mason Center. My favorite photo from the few I snapped – more on flickr.

This is Sufjan Stevens’ last moment on stage last night. It was a technically terrible shot but I really loved the moment, the expression, and black and white is quite forgiving! Breathtaking show, I loved every minute. Sufjan Stevens, Bruce Mason Center, Auckland 07/02/11. More pictures on flickr.

Your social graph is the most important thing you have that can be represented in bits. With it, I can manipulate you. I can change your tastes, your attitudes, even your politics. We now know this is possible – and probably even easy. But to do this, I need your social graph. I need you … Continue reading “”

I’ve been scanning! Boy it takes ages, and I’ve been a bit lazy on the dust protection duty… So satisfying to have my pictures scanned properly though – this is from Diana Mini, the lab insists on cutting the “pairs” apart so it’s not worth paying them to scan for me.

Are we the worst kind of web user?
I’ve been thinking a lot lately about what a web snob I am. Bad website design? Tweet about it. Difficult user interface? Toss hands in the air and refuse to proceed (probably Tweet about it). A friend’s recently released site not “up to standard”? Snigger quietly and feel superior. I’m not the first, or the … Continue reading “Are we the worst kind of web user?”

Audio Ratatat – Tacobel Canon, from their Classics LP. Sorry I missed seeing them again. This song makes my mood soar in the right direction.

My scanner is here! Happy birthday to me… Now I just have to learn how to drive it… (If you are wondering, I got the Epson v500, after reading many positive things on Flickr)

It’s time to start taking pictures of things I see every day, because one day will be the last and I won’t be able to see them anymore. Seeing the world like a three year old, watch this TED talk.

I watched the millenium tick over on this clock. At the time, I was two weeks away from turning twelve years old – so savoring my allowance of two bacardi breezers (the trick was to top up the bottle with Malibu from the cupboard, badass).

There are heaps* of great desktops over on Simple Desktops, this is one of my favourites. For when you get sick of staring into space. *heaps – such a kiwi use of the word.

Fiona Quinn Photographer: Fresh!
Link: Fiona Quinn Photographer: Fresh! Fiona and Katie came and bid me a happy birthday yesterday (thanks ladies!). I told Fiona I loved her Tumblr blog – I really love how she posts more than just her images, she adds in some commentary about the location, the models, the challenges she faced on the shoot. … Continue reading “Fiona Quinn Photographer: Fresh!”
