These two little fellows came into being this weekend. The octopus is by request, for Theunis. The bumble bee is the first creature I’ve made without following any sort of pattern – I plan to give him to my grandmother, who taught me how to knit when I was a little girl.
-
My very first creature. I made him for my sister on the day of our uncle’s funeral.
-
This little dude was gifted to Amber as a “goodbye” present when I left &some.
-
This little lady went to Jade on her birthday.
-
Finished making this Octopus today. I thought I’d give him to Emily, seeing as I carelessly tweeted a picture of a crustacean last week (she is mortally terrified of crabs).

My Friday night was spent folded on the floor with Pamela, knitting our little fingers sore on pointy 3mm needles. Someone from work asked me to make her a tadpole with fangs, and Pamela made a little bunny for her little girl, Mika. These creatures are so cute! My workmate wanted to pay me for … Continue reading “”

Archive
To me, an Archive stores things that have been created or received in the past, that are no longer necessary to keep close at hand. Items in an archive don’t need to be referenced quickly, but have value enough that they might be useful again in the future. I’ve noticed Frank Chimero having a few thoughts about … Continue reading “Archive”

“LetterMpress™ will be a virtual letterpress environment—released first on the iPad—that will allow anyone to create authentic-looking letterpress designs and prints. The design process is the same as the letterpress process—you place and arrange type and cuts on a press bed, lock the type, ink the type, and print. You will be able to create … Continue reading “”

If you aren’t having no fun, die, because you’re running a worthless program, far as I’m concerned. Gil Scott Heron tells Alec Wilkinson from the New Yorker, for his article “New York is Killing Me”.

Sprockety sprockety sprockets. Didn’t George Jetson make Sprockets? I don’t think they were like this.

Olie Monster. Walking to Parnell for lunch on my last day at Terabyte in February. He is a giant. Diana F+, Lomography 100 35mm film.

I invited Derwin Panda, a.k.a. Gold Panda, to NPR to deconstruct a song – any song — from his debut album, Lucky Shiner. Panda chose his hypnotic single, “You,” and with just his laptop and a sequencer, he broke the song down into its component parts. Jess Gitner for NPR Music. Click through to listen … Continue reading “”

I’m very glad to discover that the first roll of 35mm film I put through my Diana F+ in it’s 35mm back wasn’t destroyed. It’s taking a long time to work through the pictures, but it’s super rewarding. I got this roll developed along with a roll from my Diana Mini, and it turns out … Continue reading “”

Double exposure, Auckland late 2010. Diana Mini, kodak gold 200. I upload all (or nearly all!) my lomo pictures to lomography.com, and it never ceases to surprise and delight me when people “like” photos I’m not fond of myself. Sadly, it makes me attribute them with much more value.

I hate the telephone
All someone has to do is dial a number, and this goddamn device rings. It interrupts, makes all sorts of horrendous noise demanding your attention. How rude is that? I’m only answering for work.

This is the Tararu Store on the Thames coast road. Taken when my sister and I stopped on our way back to Auckland after Christmas – to buy the obligatory lime thickshakes and twisties. Ahh, summer. lomohomo: (by antheaw on Lomography)

Matt and Tim at Library bar, Auckland, late 2010. Diana F+, Instant Back, Fuji Instax film.

Anni Monroe regaehfaehfkhwaefhawefohawoi ________ This is probably the most random thing I’ve found on tumblr – a draft post hanging out in my account that I’ve never seen before. It’s complete with an image caption and photography tag. And weird post caption. Perplexed, I’m publishing rather than deleting. All I can think is, did someone … Continue reading “”
